Second week!!

MORNING ACTIVITY AT GUILDHALL

Another week has begun! Monday is always a hard day: hard to get up early in the morning, hard to wake up, hard to start again... But we had a very interesting activity!! This week there was a change: we have activities in the morning and English classes in the afternoon.
We all met at the famous Forum ( http://www.theforumnorwich.co.uk/ ), our meeting point, to go to a place called Guildhall.  

Norwich Guildhall (informally the Guildhall) is a historic listed building on Gaol Hill in the city of Norwich, United Kingdom. It was constructed between 1407 and 1413 and served as the seat of city government from the early 15th century until 1938, when it was replaced by the newly built City Hall. At the time of the building's construction and for much of its history Norwich was one of the largest and wealthiest cities in England, and today the Guildhall is the largest surviving medieval civic building in the country outside of London.

The Guildhall currently serves as the offices of Norwich Heritage Economic and Regeneration Trust. 

We were shown the building and we were explained how life was during the Medieval Times. We had three different kinds of activities: in the first one we visited the dungeons and learnt about the punishment enforced to those considered of having committed a petty theft. Then a lady talked about Medieval Medicine and the different illnesses and remedies at that time and, finally, the most amazing activity, a man explained to us the different weapons and their evolution thoughtout English History.

Y empieza otra semanita! Los lunes siempre son días duros: es difícil levantarse temprano por la mañana, es difícil despertarse, es difícil empezar de nuevo ... Pero tuvimos una actividad muy interesante!! Esta semana hubo un cambio: tenemos actividades por la mañana y clases de inglés por la tarde.

Todos nos reuinimos a las 09:00 am en el famoso Forum (http://www.theforumnorwich.co.uk/), nuestro punto de encuentro, para ir a un lugar llamado Guildhall.

Norwich Guildhall (informalmente llamado Guildhall) es un edificio histórico situado en Gaol Hill en la ciudad de Norwich. Fue construido entre 1407 y 1413 y sirvió como sede del gobierno de la ciudad de principios del siglo 15 hasta 1938, cuando fue reemplazado por el recién construido ayuntamiento. En el momento de la construcción del edificio y durante gran parte de su historia Norwich fue una de las ciudades más grandes y más ricas de Inglaterra, y hoy Guildhall es el más grande edificio cívico medieval que sobrevive en Inglaterra, fuera de Londres.

Actualmente el Guildhall sirve como las oficinas del Patrimonio Económico y Regeneración de Fideicomiso en Norwich. 

Nada mas llegar, nos mostraron el edificio y nos explicaron cómo era la vida durante la época medieval. Teníamos tres diferentes tipos de actividades: en la primera visitamos las mazmorras y nos hablaron sobre los castigos impuestos a aquellos que habian sido acusados de cometer un robo menor. Despues, una mujer nos habló de la medicina medieval y las diferentes enfermedades y remedios aplicados en ese momento y, por último, la actividad más entretenida, un hombre nos explicó las diferentes armas y su evolución a traves de la historia de Inglaterra.
